some tiling examples
....and a mini tutorial

most of the flames on this page i created using the carl_radizik_mod script a version of which can be found here
also, carl has written an excellent tutorial on tiling (and much more) which can be found here

most of the above tiling images started of with this simple flame;

tiling-1

view this flame fullsize by clicking
on the thumb image

download the flame file for this image here.

first of all i changed the background colour of it to white,
to do this open the adjust pane from the main window, click
on the rendering tab(view/adjust/rendering)and then click
on the black coloured box next to the background word,

a seperate window will open, select white from the
basic colours menu and then click okay.

on the main toolbar click on the 'scripts' tab and select
the tiling script, click okay and the hit the green arrow to
run the script, a window will open promting you for input

i chose 4 for levels of tiling, 0.5 for the x and y direction and no scaling.
to create images such as the ones above, work on the two primary
transforms, 1 and 2, try changing the variation type and/or their
value settings.

try also differnt gradients and increasing the frequency value of the
colour setting for a more (but not perfect) even spread of colours,
and, if you change the symmetry values of all transforms to 1 you will
have a monochromatic flame. how to do this is here.
i've no idea why the script throws in an fx transform,
(that's the white central transform)
and i've deleted it in all of the flames i've rendered with that script.
